Jean Rowe, RNC, CNM, IBCLC
Jean has been caring for women and their families for over 20 years. Her love towards mothers and babies led her down a glorious path to midwifery from first being a Le Leche League leader, and Doula. She expanded her knowledge, as she became a Registered Nurse in a medical center where she cared for high-risk mothers and babies.
She decided she wanted to care for families in her community hospital in her hometown in Upstate New York. She became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant to ensure her families were able to get the best breastfeeding support right from the start of their baby’s life. Her community benefited greatly as her work caused breastfeeding rates in the hospital to increase by leaps and bounds. During this time she obtained her Masters Degree in Midwifery at Stony Brook University.
Looking to further broaden her horizons, Jean moved across the country to establish herself as a midwife that sees pregnancy as a normal, natural part of a woman’s life. South Coast Midwifery shared this same ideal for truly being “with women”, and guiding women and their families through this process. Jean knew from the moment she walked into the office that this was where she belonged.
Jean has many interests outside of her calling as a midwife that include sharing time with her family. She’s been married for 25 years and has three adult children. She also enjoys art, yoga, photography and the beach.
