South Coast Midwifery is home to Orange County’s only accredited birth center. The founder and director, Lorri Walker, RNC, NP, CNM, is one of the Southern California’s best known midwives. At SCM we embrace a partnership care with our clients, including them in all decision making.

“My office visits were the highlight of my week! Even the backup midwife is wonderful and makes you feel very comfortable, as does the entire staff. Lorri was excellent at our home birth- she and her assistant were quiet and left me alone to do what I had to do during labor.
Then she would sometimes assist me through contractions with Reiki and Cranial Sacral Therapy as needed. She was extremely respectful about my natural birthing process, making suggestions occasionally to help make me more comfortable while making labor progress (i.e. suggesting I lay a certina way to help baby turn to anterior position). Plus, her professionalism inspired confidence in my doubting mother (who works in a NICU in a hospital) that homebirth with a midwife is in fact perfectly safe. If we have a 3rd child like we think we want, we will undoubtedly have our 3rd homebirth with SCM again like our first 2.
