Birth Details is a customized, out-of-hospital birth class specific for SCM clients. Topics that will be covered include carefully selecting your support people, preparing supplies for home or what to pack for the birth center depending on where you choose to give birth, suggestions for food in labor and postpartum, the birth conference, when to call the midwife, rapid labor and much more.
It is a live, interactive virtual class so feedback and questions are encouraged. The goal is to empower you with practical information, leaving you feeling more confident as you near your labor date. The instructor, Maegan, has worked alongside our midwives as a birth assistant as well as supporting SCM clients as a doula, both in the birth center and at home births.
Please note, Birth Details is not a childbirth education class which typically goes more in depth into topics such as the stages of labor, comfort measures, suggested movements for labor, etc. This class is part of the three class series, including Breastfeeding Basics and Newborn Care (unless you’re an experienced mom).
For all of our families who plan to birth at home or in the birth center, we recommend signing up for this class by 28 weeks, and attending this class BEFORE 34 weeks of pregnancy to be prepared for your Birth Conference appointment. Please choose a date that works for both you and your partner to be present and plan to keep your camera on for the duration of class. This helps to foster a safe space for better communication and engagement. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
